Hi, if you follow my YouTube and blog, you probably watched my blue Baby Shark presentation on YouTube and read the pattern for blue Baby Shark. I made the blue shark with 2 kind of yarns - Himalaya Dolphin Baby (body, head and fins) and YarnArt Jeans (for eyes and teeth). In this post I present you FREE PATTERN for yellow Baby Shark made with only one kind of yarn. Therefore I made some modifications in the existing pattern and simplify abbreviations. Of course tutorial suits also for my blue Baby Shark (modification involves eyes and teeth). On YouTube you can watch FREE TUTORIAL in two parts - this is the first video I made whole in English, so please be understanding and don't hesitate to correct my language. I hope it will be clear for you. So take your favourite yarn & crochet hook and follow my tutorial and pattern :-)
If you would like the pattern in PDF file, you may purchase
it for 4 USD. Please mail me: amilittlecreature@gmail.com

I divided TUTORIAL in two parts - links are below:
PART 1 - body and head
PART 2 - fins, eyes and teeth
Abbreviations (USA terminology):
- MR = magic ring
- st = stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- ch = chain
- tch = turning chain (at the end of a row)
- inc = increase - 2 sc in one stitch
- dec = decrease - 2 sc decreased to one stitch
- (..) = repeat the pattern in brackets given number of times
- [..] = total number of stitches at the end of the round / row
- rnd = round
- BLO = back loop only
- FLO = front loop only
- FPSC = front post single crochet
Materials (one skein of each colour)
I use YarnArt Jeans again because I had lots of colors in my stock, so I heve to use it. However I would also try these yarns e.g. drops safran, vlna hep or gazzal.- YarnArt Jeans:
– white, for tummy, bottom part of pectoral fins, teeth and eyes;
– pink (mouth)
– red (tongue)
Sew dorsal fin along the spine between two points in rnds 14-15 and rnds 22-23 of the body (red head of pins in the photo below).
Sew pectoral fins on both sides between two points in rnds 16-17 (1st point) and rnds 22-23 (2nd point) of the body (green head of pins in the photo below).
I wish you fruitful crocheting! :-)

- safety eyes – 10 mm in diameter
- polymer clay for teeth (optional)

In the body section I switch colors: yellow - white - yellow to make a tummy. I recommend you to cut the yarn white you change colors and tie up the ends of yarns inside the shark to secure them.
Baby Shark crocheted with materials stated in the pattern is about 14 cm long.

MOUTH
Now take a break from crocheting the body and switch to crocheting inside part of mouth (pink yarn). Crochet in continuous rounds, decreasing the number of stitches in next rounds.
Rnd 1: Start from the stitch I finished crocheting 16th sc in 14th rnd before I changed to white yarn. Crochet 48 sc along the round: 24 sc along the top jaw in BLO and 24 sc along the bottom jaw in FLO (look at rnd 15, BODY section above).
If you have problem with the mouth, follow my tutorial.

Rnd 2: (6 sc, dec) x 6 [42]
Rnd 3: (5 sc, dec) x 6 [36]
Rnd 4: (4 sc, dec) x 6 [30]
Rnd 5: (3 sc, dec) x 6 [24]
Rnd 6: (2 sc, dec) x 6 [18]
Rnd 7: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]
Rnd 8: 6 dec [6]
Fasten off.
Fasten off.
Fold the pink circle in half (along the line dividing the circle into semi-circular top and bottom jaw). Crochet sl sts along this horizontal line inside the shark's head (on the wrong side of work).
Finally I crochet sc around the mouth:
I insert the hook (in the stitch I started crocheting the mouth) and crochet 24 sc in FLO (along top jaw, these are unworked stitches which has left while I crocheted first round of mouth in BLO).
Along the bottom jaw I crochet 24 FPSC, because all the stitches are occupied.
The mouth is done! Now stuff the head and return to crocheting the body from rnd 19.

Rnd 6-7: 12 sc [12]
Rnd 8: (3 sc, inc) x 3 [15]
Rnd 9: 15 sc [15]
Now cut the yarn and crochet part II of the fin in the same way but then don’t cut the yarn because we will join two parts (I & II):
Rnd 10: 1 sc (II), 15 sc (I), 14 sc (II) [30]
Rnd 11: (3 sc, dec) x 6 [24]
DORSAL FIN

Crochet 2nd fin in the same way.
TONGUE
Row 1: red, 5 sc in MR, 1 tch, turn (don’t join in a circle)
Row 2: 5 inc [10]
Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.
EYE (make 2)
Rnd 1: white, 6 sc in MR [6]
Rnd 2: 6 inc [12]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Rnd 4: 18 sc [18]
Rnd 5: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]
If you use safety eyes, it's a good time to insert them (before you close the opening). I used eyes 10 mm in diameter.
Stuff each eye before you close the opening.
Rnd 6: 6 dec [6]

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Crochet the second eye in the same way.
I needle sculpted the eye sockets before I sewed the eyes - points are between rnds 9-10 (look at white and yellow pins below).

EYELID (make 2)
Row 1: 10 FPSC around the eye in the half upper part (crochet in semi-circular line), 1 tch, turn.
Firstly I attached 10 pins to mark the number of stitches.

Rows 2-6: 10 sc, 1 tch, turn.
We get rectangular. Now, in order to form the eyelid, sew the outside points to the head.
Eyelid should cover the eye in half.
Thanks to sewing the eyelid as explained above we can uplift the eyelid or cover the eye to make two ways of shark's facial expressions.

TOOTH (make 2 or 5)
Rnd 1: white, 3 sc in MR [3]
Rnd 2: 3 inc [6]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 3 [9]
Rnd 4: 9 sc [9]
Crochet 2 or 5 teeth and sew them to the top jaw. You can see how sharks looks like regarding 2 or 5 teeth (in the photo below).
Before you sew the teeth, I advice you to attach them with pins. Add stuffing while sewing teeth.
You can also make teeth from polymer clay. If you make it from the clay, use jewellery eye pin to make little hole. Bake the teeth in the oven and let them get cold. Then glue the pin inside the hole and sew each tooth to top jaw.
In my pattern for Blue Shark you will also find CROCHET BOTTLE and NAPPY.

Finally you can embroider gills and nostrils with black thread (frankly I forgot about it, but you can compare to my blue baby shark):
I was doing my best to write down the pattern.
However if something is still unclear, let me know.
