The Pola's body contains of yellow-black stripes. It is based on the basic pattern for cutie I showed you here for Boris the beaver pattern: Boris the beaver FREE PATTERN.
For the body I used Alize Softy (yellow no 216, black no 60) and YarnArt Jeans for the wings (white). One skein is enough; crochet hook 2.5 mm.
To obtain the same size as for all the cuties, I crochet the stitches strictly because I use fluffy yarns and the gauge should be adjusted. Try to adjust it to your size.
For the eyes I use crochet hook 2 mm.
For antennas I used:
- fluffy wire (black) - approx. 30 cm (divided in two = 15 cm x 2)
- 4 buttons with holes enough to pull the wire through.
For the eyes I use crochet hook 2 mm.
For antennas I used:
- fluffy wire (black) - approx. 30 cm (divided in two = 15 cm x 2)
- 4 buttons with holes enough to pull the wire through.
ANTENNA (make 2)
Firstly make the frame for the antennas (photos below). Divide the fluffy wire 30 cm in two parts for
every antenna.
1. Fold the fluffy wire 15 cm (short part is 5 cm, long part is 10 cm).
2. Thread the button through the first hole.
3. Form the loop and put the end into the second hole.
4. Twist two wires to secure the end (I use flat nose pliers).
5. Insert the longer end of the wire through the loop.
6-7. Pull the wire.
8. Fold the wire (put the button horizontally).
Then crochet the yellow part:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR [6]
Rnd 2: 6 inc [12]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Rnd 4-6: 18 sc [18]
Rnd 7: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]
Put the button inside the yellow part and continue crocheting around the fluffy wire.
Rnd 8: 6 dec [6]
Fasten off.
Next step - placing the antennas into the body (see: HEAD & BODY section).
1. Insert the wire (firstly mark the place onto the body to put the wire inside)
2. The wire on the surface is 3 cm long and distance between two antennas is approx. 12 sts.
3. Thread the wire with the button inside the body.
4. Secure the ends of the wire with electrical tape (black tape on the photo no 4).
5. Connect two wire ends and wrap them around with the tape to stabilize the antennas.
6. Add stuffing and continue crocheting the body.
