Christmas Angel ornament

Hi, Christmas is coming, so I made Christmas "last-minute" Angel ornament to hanging on my Christmas tree :) On YouTube I show you how to crochet the Angel step by step and in the post you find the photos and written pattern. Subscribe my channel and blog.

Materials:

- thread Camellia Yarn Art - beige with metallic thread (it may be e.g. no 418 or 430)
- crochet hook 1.25 mm
- pom-pom 12-15 mm for stuffing the head
(you may use other stuffing if you don't have fluffy pom-pom)

Abbreviations:

• st = stitch

• sl st = slip stitch

• ch = chain

• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet
• dc inc - increase consisted of 2 dc (2 dc in one st)

• inc = increase (2 sc in one st)

• dec = decrease (sc2tog)

• (..) = repeat the pattern particular number of times

• [..] = complete number of st in the round / row

• rnd = round

• picot (ch 3 and sl st in the 3rd ch from the hook)

Final size of the Angel is 7 cm tall.

Head and body

Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR [6]
Rnd 2: 6 inc [12]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Rnds 4-6: 18 sc [18]
Rnd 7: (1 sc, dec) x 6 [12]
Stuff the head (I add fluffy ball pom-pom 12-15 mm diameter)
Rnd 8: 6 dec [6]

Don't cut the yarn and continue the body:

First stitch always consists of ch 3 and 1 dc in the same st (ch 3 is crocheted instead of 1 dc at the beginning of the round). Join the round with sl st in the end.

Rnd 9: (ch 3, 1 dc) in one st, 5 dc inc [12]

Rnd 10: (ch 3, 1 dc) in one st, 11 dc inc [24]

Rnd 11: (ch 3, 1 dc) in one st, 23 dc inc [48]

Put markers before you start rnd 12 - I explain it in my tutorial

Rnd 12: 5 sc, ch 4 (skip 19 sts), 5 sc, ch 4 (skip 19 sts), sl st

Rnd 13: (ch 3, 1 dc) in one st, ch 1 (skip 1 st), [2 dc, ch 1 (skip 1 st)] x 7
Rnd 14: (ch 3, 2 dc) in one st, ch 1 (skip 1 st), [3 dc, ch 1 (skip 1 st)] x 7
Rnd 15-16: (ch 3, 3 dc) in one st, ch 1 (skip 1 st), [4 dc, ch 1 (skip 1 st)] x 7

Rnd 17: 2 sl st (to go to the centre of 4 dc). You start the edging from the centre of 4 dc.

ch 2, (2 dc, picot of ch 3, 2 dc) under ch 1 of previous rnd, ch 2, sl st (between 4 dc of previous rnd)

Repeat the pattern 7 times.

DECORATIVE ARM

Each arm consists of 19 sts. To decorate the arm I crochet picots.

Start in the first st and crochet picot (ch 3 and sl st in the 3rd ch from the hook), skip 2nd st, make sl st in the 3rd st and start picot.

Repeat the pattern.

HALO

12 dc in MR (the first dc = ch 3). Finish with sl st and attach the halo to the angel's head.

Make the edging with reverse single crochet.

Finally you may stiffen the angel. There are lots of possibilities. I usually use liquid starch (potatoe flower and water).

I also heard about stiffening with sugar and water, hair spray, glue and water etc.
