In this video I'll show you how to make the basic Easter Bunny Wreath (styrofoam half-ring, ears and bow).
I will publish tutorials for ornaments (flowers, leaves, eggs) in next videos on YouTube.
TUTORIAL on youtube for basic wreath:
MATERIALS (bought in PIMOTKI Polish shop):
- polyester cord 3 mm:
light grey (2 skeins)
sweet pink (1 skein)
- crochet hook 3.5 mm
- styrofoam half-ring
(circuit: 78 cm, diameter: 25 cm, inner hole diameter: 13 cm, circuit of the ring: 18 cm)
- pom pom
I was inspired by AI generated photos. AI-generated photos and patterns are flooding crochet groups these days. I treat them as sources of inspiration. This is a possibility of transferring a virtual thing to reality.
As for the cover for the ring, I crocheted in BLO (back loop only) sc and dc alternately.
It gives the cover more elasticity.
Start the COVER.
I work single crochets V, not X [I show it in my video - look at video description].
Try the cover for your ring after crocheting a few rows. If you see that there should be more stitches in a row, add more chains at the beginning.
It also depends on the yarn or crochet hook you use.
Work in rows.
Row 1: ch 26, insert the hook in 2nd ch and work 25 sc [25].
In the end 1 turning chain (tch) and turn.
Row 2: 25 dc in BLO, 1 turning chain (tch) and turn.
For the beginning stitch I was inspired by Bella Colo tutorial (I give you link in video description).
Then work rows of scs and dcs alternately.
Row 3: 25 sc in BLO, 1 tch, turn
Row 4: 25 dc in BLO, 1 tch, turn [I work the beginning of the row as I showed you]
I crochet until I run out of 1 skein. I crocheted 45 rows after run out of 1 skein of yarn.
I get rectangle 18 cm x 47 cm.
18 cm = circuit of small ring
Crochet until you get 58 rows.
I try the cover.
I choose side with narrow "lines" [scs facing you].
It depends on you which side to choose.
Join the edges of the cover with sl sts - in the tutorial I explain you how I to join.
While designing the pattern, after running out of 1 skein og light grey, I crocheted ears because I was afraid that I would run out of gray color before I make the ears.
Finally everything was OK, so I skip the part while editing and in the video the cover part is in whole
and next I show you how to crochet the ears.
***
EAR - INNER PART (pink)
pink cord 3 mm, crochet hook 3.5 mm
Crochet in rows, 1 turning chain in the end of each row.
Crochet from top to bottom.
Row 1: Start with ch 2, insert the hook in 2nd ch from the hook and work inc, 1 tch, turn [2].
Row 2: 2 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 3: inc x 2, 1 tch, turn [4]
Row 4: 4 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 5: inc, 2 sc, inc, 1 tch, turn [6]
Row 6-16 (11 rows): 6 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 17: dec, 2 sc, dec, 1 tch, turn [4]
Row 18: 4 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 19: dec x 2, 1 tch, turn [2]
Row 20: 2 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 21: dec [1]
EAR - OUTER PART (grey)
light grey cord 3 mm, crochet hook 3.5 mm
Crochet in rows, from top to bottom.
Row 1: Start with ch 2, insert the hook in 2nd ch from the hook and work 3 sc in one st, 1 tch, turn [3].
Row 2: 3 inc, 1 tch, turn [6]
Row 3: inc, 4 sc, inc, 1 tch, turn [8]
Row 4: 8 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 5: inc, 6 sc, inc, 1 tch, turn [10]
Row 6-16 (11 rows): 10 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 17: dec, 6 sc, dec, 1 tch, turn [8]
Row 18: 8 sc, 1 tch, turn
Row 19: dec, 4 sc, dec, 1 tch, turn [6]
Row 20: 3 dec, 1 tch, turn [3]
Row 21: 3 sc together [1]
Don't cut the light grey cord, we'll join two parts with single crochets.
We have to find the opposite rows of the same side (wrong or right).
I chose the even rows (wrong part) facing me.
Before sewing I need to attach two parts with yarn or markers.
Crochet 3 sc in one st on the top.
BOW
grey cord 3 mm, crochet hook 3.5 mm
Row 1: ch 8, insert the hook in 4th ch and work dc.
Crochet remaining 4 dc in the row. [6]
Work in rows.
6 dc in each row.
Insert the hook under both loops.
Rows 1-15: dc in each stitch.
I have 15 rows.
Now I will crochet the edge around the grey rectangle with pink cord.
I crochet single crochets around. In the corner I work 3 sc in one st.
Everything, step by step, is shown in the vieo, so I highly recommend you to watch while crocheting. Written pattern is helpful but the tutorial gives you full view and explanation on the pattern.
I will crochet narrow rectangle to wrap around the bow.
ch 11, insert the hook in 2nd ch and work 10 sc.
If you think the bow is too stiffen/rigid, you may crochet half of the rectangle
(single bow, then don't fold the bow).
I wrap the narrow rectangle around the folded bow and sew.
Sew the bow and pom pom to the wreath.
The basic wreath is finished :)
